In Loving Memory: Honoring Pastor Gerardo Gaxiola’s Legacy with EKMOI

Family & Friends,

Today, I want to take a moment to honor a remarkable man whose vision helped shape EKMOI’s mission—Pastor Gerardo Gaxiola, who passed away a couple of years ago. Pastor Gaxiola was the talented architect behind the original renderings of our children’s home in Bo Town, Sierra Leone, giving us a blueprint to create a safe haven for our kids. His heart for service and his designs laid the foundation for a space where love and hope could grow.

I met Pastor Gaxiola in Guadalajara, Mexico, and was deeply moved by his kindness—he was the “nicest man I ever met besides the Lord Jesus.” Together, we dreamed of a future for Sierra Leone’s children.

His memorial service, attended by his wife and three children, was a beautiful celebration of his life and faith.

Though Pastor Gaxiola is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in every child we serve. I’m so grateful for his contribution and for your support, which helps us carry forward this vision of love. Let’s keep his memory alive by continuing to build a brighter future for our children!

In His Service,
Maseray Young
