January 2023: Progress Update from Bo Town, Sierra Leone

This January, Elgin Young shared an exciting update from the grounds of the Esther KaiKai Memorial Outreach (EKMOI) in Bo Town, Sierra Leone. The 20,000-square-foot facility, when completed, will provide a safe home and nurturing environment for 150 to 200 children.

Currently, EKMOI feeds 20 children daily: 10 from a nearby village and 10 living with Maseray Young at a rented house. Once the new facility is operational, EKMOI aims to significantly expand its reach, providing essential care and education to many more children.

Key updates include:

  • Ceiling Installation: The roof is completed, and the ceiling work is underway.
  • Plastering and Painting: Preparations for plastering are in progress, paving the way for painting.
  • Electrical Work: Electricians have started installing boxes for appliances.
  • Security Fence: Construction has begun on the fence to ensure the safety of all residents.
  • Future Plans: The grounds, spanning five acres, will include classrooms, basketball courts, and a farm for the children to grow their own food and learn sustainable living practices.

Despite challenges in finding skilled and honest labor, the team remains determined, driven by their faith and commitment to the mission. An official opening date is set for December 8, 2023.

Elgin also expressed heartfelt gratitude to key supporters, including Andrew Wommack, Charis Bible College, and the Solid Rock of Atlanta, for their financial and spiritual support.
